iCON Knowledge Builder Award (Grades 6-12)
We need your help to identify deserving nominees in our community. Please consider nominating an
outstanding leader in your own network. Read over the criteria below. All nominations are private.
The intent of the iCON Knowledge Builder Award is to recognize annually an individual who demonstrates
exemplary teaching at the Grade 6-12 level, and who has positively impacted students’ understanding of
biotechnology’s promise and challenges. This educator also serves as a model for colleagues on how to
incorporate biotechnology into the classroom and acts as a resource to peers.
Selection Criteria:
- (Recipient has exhibited one or more of the following over a significant period of time.)
- A quantifiable body of unique or extraordinary accomplishments in science education.
- Demonstrates creativity in teaching.
- Is recognized for stimulating students’ interest in science.
- Has ignited the curiosity for learning and passion for discovery of former students, as measured by
students’ accomplishments. - Has contributed measurably to public understanding of the role of biotechnology in the overall health and well-being of the community and as a desirable career path with significant growth opportunities.
- Participates in professional growth activities and leadership roles in teaching
- Has made noteworthy scholarly contributions in the life sciences.
