Education

iBIO Institute supports improvement in science and math foundations in education and the implementation and achievement of standards in science and math. The Institute develops and delivers programs that engage and educate about life sciences, and inspire more talented young people to pursue careers in the sciences.

A dimension of each of these activities is outreach to underserved communities in order to widen the talent pool available to biotechnology organizations and to extend the relatively high paying job opportunities in the biosciences to our entire population.

There are two important reasons for this outreach.  First, rapid paced application of biotechnology tools to various industries is a fairly recent phenomenon, only about 35 years old.  Much more growth lies ahead than behind, and the bioscience sectors will need to draw on all available pools of talent in order to optimize progress.  Second, because jobs in biotech are, at all levels, higher paying than their industry average counterparts, it is in our region’s best interest to ensure that these job opportunities be extended to all segments of our society.
